Tax reporting manager will assist with the corporate oversight of the non-U.S. tax accounting function. Specific tasks will include coordination, review, and hands-on management of the Global effective tax rate, deferred tax calculations, return-to-accrual (RTA) calculations, accounting for uncertain tax positions, and tax balance sheet validations processes (Tax Basis Balance (TBBS)). Assist with technical research and analysis in ASC 740 related matters and tax footnotes and disclosures. This role reports to the Sr. Director of Tax Accounting, however the candidate will work closely with all Houston and Region-based tax accounting professionals
A significant amount of time will be dedicated to collaboration with local country tax personnel (and finance personnel responsible for tax to insure that U.S. GAAP tax data is properly reflected in tax provisioning software and HFM. In addition, the individual will manage the global monitoring of tax filings and corresponding RTA calculations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure accuracy of the Non US tax accounting calculations.
Coordinating with foreign subsidiaries and affiliates to prepare the consolidated effective tax rate and tax expense for the best forecast development (including current receivable/payable, deferred tax assets/liabilities, and cash flows)
Assisting with the assessment of accounting and reporting for uncertain tax positions, permanent reinvestment of foreign earnings, and other subjective areas of income tax accounting
Identifying, researching, and preparing company position papers related to income tax accounting issues, in cooperation with the technical accounting team for discussion and review with senior management and external auditors
Assist in reviewing the tax footnote and other related tax disclosures, in coordination with external reporting; managing all internal reporting for tax accounting; documenting support for external auditor's quarterly review and annual audit of the tax provision
Working with the corporate accounting and technical accounting teams in development of policies and procedures to minimize risk
Ensuring that SOX 404 controls are appropriate, properly monitored and maintained and effective
Assisting foreign subsidiaries and affiliates for all income tax accounting and reporting
Review the annual tax return to provision reconciliation and deferred validation (TBBS)
Proactively identify opportunities to improve processes that will increase efficiency.
Develop strong partnerships with the local country personnel, Houston-based accounting and cross-functional tax teams.
Informs management on status of work, issues with potential to escalate, resource gaps, and unmanaged risks.
Adheres to all company policies, standards, and procedures.
Assist in mentoring and developing income tax accounting staff, in both technical competency and leadership

7+ years of Big 4 Public Accounting experience, preferably at the Manager or Experienced Senior level, with a strong background in corporate tax accounting, or industry equivalent experience.
Strong ASC 740 technical knowledge, including UTP, Quarterly Provisions, Valuation Allowances, APB23, tax footnote disclosures, etc.
Previous experience with managing a team
Understanding of the components of the international tax provisioning process necessary, to not only calculate the provision, but also maintain the balance sheet.
Ability to identify, collaborate and resolve issues arising in technical areas, such as related party transactions, purchase accounting, foreign currency, Stat-to-GAAP differences, permanent and temporary differences, etc.
Strong analytical and Excel skills with the ability to manipulate and analyze data.
Excellent communication skills for interacting with a broad range of business people within the organization.
Ability to work effectively with local country personnel (tax and finance), who may have English as a second language.
BA degree in Accounting or Finance
Experience in International taxation and OneSource tax provision software knowledge and experience
