Job Description

Here's a role that'll combine your financial expertise with the chance to broaden your commercial skills. A fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal role in driving Shell's performance, whilst growing your career within a supportive, global company.

Where you fit in

As a Trade Commodity Finance Adviser, you'll be a vital part of our global Trading Commodity Financing (TCF) team, a 'centre of excellence' that delivers commodity lending and structured finance solutions for the Trading & Supply (T&S) business of Shell.

Working with a range of stakeholders, from our counterparties, third party finance providers to trading commercial and treasury teams, you'll be providing expertise across all structured finance within T&S, with a focus on value and risk. At the same time, you'll get every opportunity to broaden your commercial knowledge and develop your professional expertise.

What's the role?

As a Finance Adviser for TCF, you're going to provide support and expertise for T&S financing opportunities, aiming to increase the volumes traded by T&S by clever use of world class financial structuring solutions that balance long term risk and reward.

In practice that means you'll be applying your expertise to a wide-range of activities, from structuring bespoke client focused financing solutions, risk identification, quantification and mitigation to managing economic evaluations. More specific duties will include:
  • Developing an optimum financial deal structure and supporting negotiations.
  • Carrying out detailed model reviews, including reserve reports and Field Development Plans.
  • Managing the governance and approval process.

To succeed, you'll need to combine problem solving skills with an understanding of commercial drivers, ever ready to challenge strategic rationale and incorporate important financial analytics and insights into business decision-making. Nurturing collaborative relationships will also be key to your success, liaising with trading and business development teams, as you support the origination and structuring of deals.
