Sitting within our New Energies Research and Technology (NERT) team, this is an ambitious role, harnessing your combination of technical expertise with your business acumen, to help develop future energy opportunities.

What's the role?

This role will actively support our Offshore Wind Innovation Program, delivering business driven opportunities for the New Energies market. You can expect wide-ranging responsibilities, from providing technical support to venture investments to representing Shell across various industry initiatives.

urturing key relationships will be a vital part of your work. You'll use your strong communication skills to work collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders, building trust with strategic partnerships that are key to Shell's Offshore Wind success.

More specific duties include:
  • Developing cost reduction pathways for offshore wind farm grid connection systems, considering voltage levels, alternating vs direct current, and high capacity cables
  • Techno-economic optimization for grid connecting far and large offshore wind development areas
  • Evaluating options to incorporate storage and/or hydrogen electrolysis in offshore wind farm assets.
  • Supporting Shell's ongoing external technology collaborations, such as the Offshore Wind Accelerator, GROW Offshore Wind, the Floating Wind JIP, and the US National Offshore Wind R&D consortium.

Requirements


What we need from you

Ideally, we'd expect you to have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, along with some experience within renewable power. Beyond your technical expertise and understanding of business, we're keen to hear from men and women with the following on your CV:
  • Knowledge of the design of electrical systems & equipment and power system modelling capability.
  • Knowledge of the power and/or offshore wind industry.
  • Familiarity with relevant electrical engineering software packages.
  • An understanding of and proven commitment to HSSE.
  • Experience of developing working relationships with external stakeholders and experts.
