Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Lubricant Additive Research Technician 1 located in Richmond, CAthrough 03/27/2019 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).
The position for Lubricant Additive Research Technician in the Automotive Engine Oil (AEO) Technology Development team coordinates and excecutes research test programs to meet evolving lubrication needs for advanced engines. This includes test program planning, arranging oil samples and test scheduling, data analysis using Excel to create tables and plots, and reporting for the development of formulation technologies and products. The candidate will collaborate and engage with engineers and scientists within the AEO formulation, component chemistry, statisticians, and testing teams and provide frequent updates to stakeholders on progress and proactively identify and overcome obstacles in delivering test programs. Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills are required. Experience with MS Excel databases, macros, plotting, and data analysis functions is highly preferred.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
- Execute formulation technology development projects
- Provide input on the design and organization of testing programs
- Coordinate arranging oil samples and test scheduling
- Create and manage data tables
- Analyze results using MS Excel and other computer tools
- Proactively communicate with AEO formulators, component chemists, statisticians, and test labs as needed in the execution and reporting of test programs
- Manage multiple programs timely and efficiently
- B.S. in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or Automotive disciplines
- Ability to execute efficiently and timely complex test programs
- Demonstrates profficinecy in Microsoft applications, especially with Excel databases, macros, plotting, and data analysis functions
- Ability to communicate effectively with engineers and chemists
- Demonstrates multi-tasking and organization skills
- Flexibility in shared work team environment
- Ability to solve problems or troubleshoot issues
- Background in automotive engineering, chemistry and/or mechanical engineering
- Familiar with engine operation and parts, diesel and gasoline
- Familiar with lubrication theories and concepts
- Experience in statistics and data analytics
Relocation will not be considered.
