Job Summary

This is a highly technical and hands-on position within Anadarko's Enterprise IT Security organization whose primary responsibility is to provide strategic and operational Active Directory expertise. The responsibility includes defining and implementing Active Directory architecture in a hybrid environment including Windows, Unix/Linux, Oracle, SQL, Java, and Federation.

This position will be located at Anadarko corporate headquarters in The Woodlands, TX.


  • Overall 8+ years of experience in various verticals of IT with at least 5 of those years in Active Directory Architect/Administrator role

  • A solid understanding of current and emerging technologies, platforms and solutions that support the business, and a broad understanding of the challenges facing Oil and Gas Exploration and Production industry

  • Incumbent must be able to develop and set strategic direction for all systems, applications, and interfaces leveraging AD with minimal guidance

  • Architecture: Incumbent must have extensive experience architecting, implementing, and supporting (1) LDAP, Directory Replication, Security configuration, Group Policy, and schema management. (2) Kerberos, Windows Authentication, and Federation Services (3) AD for non-Microsoft systems [Solaris, Linux, WebLogic, Java.]

  • Automation: Incumbent must understand and be able to write scripts/code and develop innovative ideas and solutions.PowerShell experience is required. Experience with SQL is a plus

  • Troubleshooting: Incumbent must be proficient and will be required to demonstrate abilities in troubleshooting and automating in an enterprise environment working with Kerberos and thousands of AD objects

  • Identity Management: Incumbent must have advanced knowledge and understanding of HR processes specifically with how they interface to AD for provisioning, change of employee status, and de-provisioning

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.Strong leadership skills required in order to communicate, consult and negotiate across multiple IT and business groups

  • Incumbent must have proven history of marketing and influencing executives, leaders, and stakeholders


  • Analyze in-depth technical problems with systems and applications authenticating and authorizing from AD

  • Architect, design, implement, and support (1) multiple AD domains, (2) security and distribution groups, (3) group policy, (4) Azure Active Directory, (5) PKI, and (6) AD delegated tool sets and custom automation

  • Detect, analyze, and resolve complicated AD problems

  • Lead and develop other team members to manage AD

  • Provide direction and execute projects to align AD with business-level objectives including Privileged Identity Management, Cloud Identity integrations, and Kerberos/SSO for application authentications

  • Make decisions regarding the support of AD on a day-to-day basis

  • Communicate appropriately to varying levels of the organization in a non-technical format or approach

  • Takes corrective actions when a defined operations process is not yielding desired results

  • Participate in on-call rotation for urgent support activities

Travel Requirements

The percentage of travel required for this position is 10%.


High School diploma or GED required, Bachelor's degree in an IT, Engineering or closely related technical field is strongly desired
