Position Summary

The Payroll Supervisor is primarily responsible for the timely and accurate processing and transmission of our weekly, bi-weekly payrolls for all employees and performing the full accounting cycle including A/R, A/P, G/L and reconciliations

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Responsible for the full cycle, weekly, biweekly, multi-state, and international payroll process, ensuring timely and accurate payrolls for approximately 1,000 employees working with in-house payroll processing environment.
  • Accomplishes payroll human resource objectives by selecting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees and communicating job expectations.
  • Complete end-to-end bi-weekly and monthly processing of shadow and split payrolls.
  • Be the Subject Matter Export on all payroll laws, compliance, etc. in the countries Parker Drilling has International Payroll.
  • Work with benefits manager to ensure benefit deductions are accurate.
  • Processes payroll records for all new employees, including W-4 information.
  • Prepare/process/transmit federal and state tax funding files and reports in a timely manner.
  • Processes child support deductions and garnishments, and ensure checks are distributed.
  • Compute foreign tax-gross ups and foreign compensation amounts. Work with global mobility team on mobilization and demobilization of each expat while enhancing employee relations.
  • Assist with account reconciliations and other payroll controls such as balancing payroll results to payroll tax returns and to year-end Form W-2 statements.
  • Interface with accounting department, banks and other outside sources regarding payroll policies and interpretation, pay computations, direct deposits and so forth.
  • Train team members on new or enhanced operation procedures and policies.
  • Identify process improvement initiatives and define standards for new processes.
  • Cover for team members in back-up role for vacation and/or high-volume work efforts.
  • Approve and release manual off-cycle check payments.
  • Assist in processing all tax deposits and file returns and compliance reporting. Review and reconciled yearly payroll information with Tax vendors.
  • Additional projects as assigned.
  • Ability to effectively supervise team members and work as a member of that team and organize work activities for other members of that team.

  • 2 years Supervisory experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of multi-state/multi-location, payroll processing experience with hourly, salaried, exempt, and non-exempt employees.
  • 3 to 5 years International Payroll experience preferred.
  • Experience with Oracle payroll systems.
  • Experience in a shared service environment and solid understanding of Payroll and HR cycles.
  • Ability to effectively supervise team members and work as a member of that team and organize work activities for other members of that team.
  • Strong organization skills, attention to detail and follow through to resolve any outstanding issues.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Proficient Microsoft user to include Excel (Vlookup and Pivots).
  • Ability to adapt to changing environment and support of multiple clients.
  • Ability to analyze/interpret data and take appropriate action.
  • Ability & interest in training other team members.
  • Some knowledge of tax reciprocity rules and regulations.
  • FPC or CPP Certification a plus.

Work Environment

This position will typically work in a climate controlled building in the corporate office of Parker Drilling.
