About the position and requirements:

We currently have an opening for a Legal Counsel within our Antitrust (LAT) team. The role is to provide specialist antitrust advice within the antitrust team (LAT) on a wide range of complex antitrust issues, including merger control filings, conduct of antitrust investigations and antitrust compliance advice.

The individual will closely work with our other LAT lawyers in Houston, The Hague, Hong Kong and Calgary and will be responsible for providing specialist antitrust advice to Group companies on a wide range of issues, including merger control filings, conduct of antitrust investigations and antitrust compliance advice. You will be advising independently on a wide range of complex antitrust law issues and will be expected to have some experience in these areas. some antitrust merger control multi-jurisdictional filing experience is desirable.

Requirements

What we need from you?
  • Qualified lawyer with knowledge and between 1-5 years' experience of antitrust laws (in particular antitrust merger control) is essential for this role.
  • Knowledge and experience of several international antitrust laws (including EU antitrust laws) would be a distinct advantage, as would knowledge of antitrust economics.
  • Sound legal experience and a calm, confident and practical, solutions-oriented approach is required, as are strong presentation skills.
  • The candidate must be a good team player with the ability to interact effectively with clients at all levels in our organisation and other lawyers, both in-house and in private practice.
  • A capable negotiator, you'll be comfortable influencing and swiftly resolving any legal and
    business concerns, proactively protecting Shell's assets and reputation. It means you'll need to show us you can confidently identify legal risks, preparing for any issues that might infringe or expose our business principles.
To succeed, you'll need to be the kind of self-starter who thrives on challenges, from prioritizing your work to influencing key stakeholders. Yet, at the same time, you'll relish working within a highly collaborative and inclusive team. A natural ability to nurture trustworthy relationships with a range of stakeholders will also be a key part of the role.
