Job Description

- Manage the overall effective and efficient operation of Tax Litigation in Brazil.
- Ensure delivery of advice on matters of exposures related to Tax litigation in Brazil.
- Manage the accurate and timely handling of Tax litigation.
- Ensure that tax exposures reflected in the accounts and relating to litigation are correct.
- Engage with and advise Brazil business leaders and business tax advisors on Brazil litigation issues and exposures as appropriate
- Manage interface with JV (Raizen, PBR NOVs) and external law firms
- Drive and support the new behaviours and ways of working to embed flexibility as a sustainable approach to the rapid and agile deployment of resources to high risk/value priorities within and across Tax.
- Manage team resources to achieve the targeted balance between dedication (to assigned business/function/process) and allocation (to other areas/projects).

All other activities as required.

Requirements

Broad knowledge in historical Brazil tax laws, regulations, and administrative procedures;
Broad extensive knowledge of Brazil taxes as it relates to oil & gas industries;
Recognized legal professional qualification and a member of a recognized legal professional body; advanced law degree;
Broad extensive knowledge of Brazil direct and indirect tax practice and procedure;
Strong understanding of the RDS corporate structure and governance processes;
Strong negotiation skills and effective at influencing others within and outside Shell Tax;
Ability to adapt to new or changing circumstances and ambiguous or pressured situations;
Ability to evaluate tax risks, balance risk with Business objectives, and make recommendations that are objective, practical, technically appropriate, and supportive of the Business;
Effective communicator of complex tax issues, both written and oral;
Effective client/project management and task prioritization skills;
Effective manager of own staff and consultants including outside counsel;
Effective team player on Tax and cross-functional/cross-sector teams.

Demonstration of the Leadership Attributes commensurate with the seniority of the role.

Experience commensurate with the seniority of the position: this is a team-leading role, reporting directly to the Country Tax Lead.
