Saudi Aramco seeks Battalion Chiefs to join the Fire Protection Department (FrPD). The positions will be based in the West Region Area of Saudi Arabia.
The FrPD provides protection to all personnel, assets, and locations associated with the Company within Saudi Arabia. With more than 1800 personnel and 49 fire stations, the Saudi Aramco FrPD is a large fire service with a diverse and extensive risk protection portfolio. The FrPD's mission is to "Save Lives and Protect Assets."
The Battalion Chief serves as the senior fire operations officer in command of one or more fire stations. The Battalion Chief will supervise the daily routine of 35-80 personnel. Typically, the Battalion Chief is assigned to a major station at one of Saudi Aramco's key operating facilities or larger communities with strategic infrastructure assets. The Battalion Chief may also have responsibility for several fire stations covering multiple plants and/or communities.
During the first 30 days, the incumbent will become familiar with the company operations in the area of assignment, the FrPD's structure, operational responsibilities, and key personnel within the department in the area of assignment. Later, the incumbent will assume full command of emergency operations and daily station routines.
The successful candidate will have 12 years of firefighting experience as an officer in a fire department servicing municipal, petrochemical, refinery, gas processing, airport, marine port, structural, commercial, industrial, residential, and/or office occupancies; including seven (7) years of service in a leadership position.
Experience in one or more of the following subjects will be beneficial: hydrocarbon processing operations, hydrocarbon processing firefighting, industrial safety, confined space rescue, high angle rescue, hazardous materials, aircraft rescue and firefighting, flammable liquid storage tank firefighting, high-rise firefighting, cavern emergencies, pipeline incidents, offshore facility incident response, shipboard firefighting, major incident management, Incident Control System/Incident Management System (ICS/IMS) usage, and fire training.
Experience in the oil refining and processing industry or related work experience; participation on an industrial emergency response team, and delivery of firefighting training courses will be beneficial.
Preference may be given to candidates who possess a bachelor's or associate's degree in fire protection technology or a closely related field.
Consideration will be given to candidates who hold licenses or certifications in industrial safety, firefighting, fire officer, fire service training, incident command, incident investigation, hazardous materials, rescue, industrial hygiene, and related specialties (i.e., NFPA 472, 1081, 1001, 1002, 1003, 1006, 1021, 1031, 1041). Preference will be given to candidates with Pro-Board or International Fire Service Accreditation Certifications (IFSAC).
Participation on standards committees, advisory boards, or organizations related to firefighting, emergency response, or incident management will be beneficial.
The department is looking for a candidate with excellent leadership, administrative, and organizational skills, including the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. The ideal candidate must possess strong management and leadership skills, and the ability to plan and coordinate the work of others.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Experience in leading training programs and/or developing and implementing training plans is a plus.
Highly developed verbal and written interpersonal and communication skills.
Familiarity with related standards: OSHA, NFPA, etc.
Duties & Responsibilities
Respond to incidents within the Incident Control System under the direction of the Incident Commander.
Support the Incident Commander in identifying incident priorities, establishing incident objectives, and developing response strategies.
In the capacity of Fire Commander, conduct a comprehensive size-up; develop an incident action plan; communicate tactical priorities; and make unit assignments.
May serve as Incident Commander in residential, commercial, and other nonindustrial responses.
May serve in the capacity of Sector Commander in complex and expanded emergencies at other locations within the Company.
Plan and direct the daily work routines of assigned Fire Control Unit(s).
Plan the annual work and vacation schedules of assigned Fire Control Unit(s).
Implement Company and department policies to meet the department's mission and objectives.
Conduct ongoing evaluation of unit response preparedness and establish plans/programs to enhance response capabilities.
Lead in-service inspections/visits of occupancies to identify hazards, challenges, fire protection features, primary response corridors, water supplies, critical exposures, process hazards, and other key response information as well as coordinate information with proponent representatives.
Review and comment on proponent emergency response plans.
Develop and maintain pre-incident plans.
Plan, coordinate, and evaluate emergency drills.
Coordinate Unit(s) training.
Perform all administrative duties required of a unit head.
Represent the department in meetings within the assigned area.
Develop the Unit(s) workforce for progression within the department job families.
Develop annual training plan for firefighters and coordinates fire extinguisher/self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) training for company employees.
Coordinate maintenance, refill, and repair of Company fire extinguishers and SCBAs.
Serve as a mentor to junior officers.
Deliver firefighting courses at the Advanced Fire Training Center and to unit crew members.
Coach, mentor, and develop colleagues at all levels within FrPD.
Uphold the FrPD mission to Save Lives and Protect Assets.
