REPORTS TO: First Assistant Engineer/Maintenance Supervisor

DEPARTMENT: Maintenance

LOCATION: Offshore Newfoundland

TYPE OF RIG: Semi Submersible

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-Time; Labour Pool Position

NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 2

JOB SUMMARY: Supervises the maintenance and repair of mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment onboard the vessel. Exercise effective control and efficient operation of the technical and mechanical aspects of the rig with due regard to personnel safety, the rig, and protection of the environment

 

PREREQUISITES/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Work experience and demonstrated ability of oral and written communications may be substituted in lieu of formal education
  • Canadian Third or Forth Class Engineering (Unlimited) License, or STCW equivalent
  • 2+ years previous experience in a role with 6th generation semi submersible drilling rig considered an asset
  • STCW Security Training for Seafarers without Security Duties
  • Valid medical examination and vaccination certificates
  • Knowledge of all technical calculations required for the mechanical operations
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Must pass Physical, Drug Screen and Background /Pre-Employment Screening Checks.
  • Must have Basic Survival Training, H2S Alive, First Aid, WHMIS 2015, Fall Protection and Confined Space Entry.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and ensure that all mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment maintenance and repair is done in a safe and prudent manner
  • Ensure conformance to policies, local and international regulations relating to the operation of the rig, and current pollution regulations
  • Monitor the power plants controls and power distribution; ensure that power is available at all times
  • Ensure that the permit to work system is in place and followed
  • Participate in the effective management of the Rig Maintenance System (RMS) and ensure all records are maintained on a timely basis
  • Operate, maintain and repair as necessary the engine cooling water system, lube oil system, and fuel system
  • Other Duties as Assisgned
