Job Description


The Production Unit Manager will provide leadership and direction to operational sites through direct management of the OIMs and an onshore delivery team, as well as indirect management of the remainder of the offshore organization. The role is the main interface between the asset operation sites and the onshore support organization (as well as major capital projects). The role will also provide the strategic views on people development and succession planning within all operational sites.

  • Health, Safety and Environment - Establish a strong and sustainable Safety Culture.
  • Cost and Profit - To plan, monitor and control the budgets associated with the operational activities of the sites to enable safe delivery of operations and optimize in-year cash flow whilst delivering uncompromising availability and reliability.
  • Operational excellence - Management of offshore and onshore asset leadership teams in line with approved standards from efficient activity planning to business bottom line and strategy delivery; drive continuous improvement and implement/assure/verify compliance of Asset Management System on site by driving self and independent audits. Drive the effectiveness and timeliness of front-line troubleshooting and support services provided to the site teams.
  • People - Develop OIMs and respective direct line reports to ensure capability to deliver annual business plan. Role model and champion Core Values and behaviors. Support the development and delivery of comprehensive succession and competency plans for the operational sites and onshore the delivery team.
  • Project Delivery and Assurance - Support the Project team via delivery of required operations input and assurance into the project funnel at various stages, up to and including commissioning and execution. Support in prioritization of activities at various sites to support a true "enterprise first" approach.

More accountabilities will be:
  • To support, monitor and assure sites meet agreed health safety, environmental and business performance in line with agreed standards and processes.
  • To provide technical and budgetary input to the Company Strategy and business planning cycle to ensure the interests of Shell are considered, acted upon and Business Plan delivered.
  • To report to the GM Upstream Shell T&T an integral member of the Country Leadership team
  • Deputizes for the GM Upstream Shell T&T as required

  • Extensive knowledge of the operational aspects of the exploration and production and / or Petrochemical Industry in extreme environments both offshore and onshore
  • A minimum of 20 years industrial experience, 10 years oil and gas related; Senior Management role for at least 7 years.
  • Extensive knowledge of Project Delivery (in particular subsea design and execution of subsea developments, platform brownfield modification and planning / management of SIMOPS)
  • Extensive understanding of the concepts, principles and practices employed in the field of operational management in an international business environment
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the issues confronting the oil and gas industry within the Geographical Region.
  • Proven track record of implementing successful management systems and working in a difficult business environment.
  • A track record of significant personal achievement in an operational environment.
