We are currently seeking an experienced Metallurgist/Welding Enginer to work with a leading EPC company based out of Houston, TX. Our client has a presence in 48 countries worldwide, with state-of-the-art industrial assets on all continents and their own fleet of specialized vessels for pipeline installations and subsea construction, as well as providing a wide range of services, including design, engineering, construction, fabrication and environmental services.


The Metallurgist is primarily responsiblefor:


-  Executes assignments concerned with specialized or unique engineering/ scientific requirements in a global business unit. 

-  Has technical responsibility for independently interpreting, organizing and coordinating these assignments.

-  Involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope and may involve development of novel concepts, approaches and solutions. 

-  Selects and evaluates materials of construction proposed for pipe, pumps, valves, storage tanks, pressure vessels, stacks, bolting and structural steel.

-  Reviews supplier procedures (fabrication, welding, NDE, QC) submitted through Projects and central engineering.

-  Prepares/ reviews Design Guides and Specifications.

-  Reviews primarily engineering designs, drawings and specifications for materials, fabrication and NDE content.

-  Troubleshoots materials and shop fabrication problems as requested by Projects and central engineering. 


-  This position requires 5 to 10+ years experience in selecting metallic material construction for the petroleum, chemical and refinery industries.

-  Familiarity with welding, fabrication and Code interpretation is a must.

-  Registration as a PE in the state of Texas is a plus, but not required

-  Position requires periodic travel to construction sites and supplier's facilities to resolve materials issues and problems.

-  Current participation in industrial Codes and Standards writing bodies highly desirable Degree in materials Engineering, Metallurgy, or Metallurgical Engineering preferred.
