NCCCO OFFSHORE CRANE OPERATOR -Job Description

Purpose

The NCCCO Crane Operator is responsible for the overall safety and capability of the crane, rigging lines, & associated load while considering all environmental conditions. The employee must be able to work 8 to 12 hours, rotating shifts . Must have transportation to and from the jobsite(s).

Must observe all safety and security procedures at all times and utilize all equipment/materials properly. Must be prepared and able to exercise Stop Work Authority for any actions that appear unsafe, and report any potentially unsafe conditions. Must be able to pass a post offer physical exam and drug screening.

Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes the following, additional duties may be assigned:

  • Inspect conditions of the work site prior to any load movements

Operating a Link belt 248 200 ton friction crane

Operating a 150 ton Link belt

  • Qualified to Operate a Link belt 248 200 ton friction crane
  • Qualified to Operate a 150 ton Link belt
  • Manipulate boom to hoist position and/or prepare for transport of material such as machinery, equipment and other construction materials
  • Possess accurate knowledge of how much material can be lifted safely based upon weather conditions crane capacity, platform, and rigging materials
  • Maintain all components of the crane and regularly inspect for any defect or malfunctions and notify supervisor of any potentially unsafe condition
  • Operate crane (levers on the control console) to lift and move various materials to designated locations with precision, efficiency and accuracy as well as rotate, counter-balance and position the horizontally mounted boom to extend/retract the load while raising and lowering the load to and from designated locations
  • Control crane movement in response to hand signals or radio commands by supervisor or signaler (Working at heights/high levels required.)
  • Supervise and assist with the attachment of loads to rigging lines for support and preparation for moving, using hand and/or power tools
  • Participate in safety meetings, JSA's, and all other Safety, Health & Environmental processes
  • Ensures compliance with ENERMECH Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct
  • Responsible for practicing safe work standards and promoting an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) work environment as a condition of employment

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, and/or EXPERIENCE

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Five (5) years marine experience operating offshore moving loads required, with friction and hydraulic cranes preferred. Including a link belt 248 ton friction crane and a 150 ton link belt. NCCCO and/or other crane operator competency certification preferred. High school diploma/GED preferred. Must be able to communicate, take direction well, and work cooperatively with other colleagues. Must have ability to give and receive, understand, respond and follow verbal and written communications and instructions.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

NCCCO Certified, Valid picture identification required. Position will require valid Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC). Certified training in all or any of the following preferred: Rigger, Fall Protection, Water Survival, Marine Trash & Debris, Fire Fighting - and SafeGulf.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee must be able to meet the physical requirements of this position, including:

  • Able to perform light to medium physical labor as classified by the U.S. Department of Labor and work outdoors in all weather conditions on marine vessels, in and around heavy equipment/large machinery.
  • Perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs, total body movements such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, and stooping for the handling, moving, positioning and installing of materials, equipment and manipulating controls.
  • Able to wear all personal protective equipment (PPE) required of various construction work environments (hard hats, personal floatation devices, safety glasses, gloves, safety-toed shoes, respirators, etc.)

Job location in Morgan city on a barge but will be staying onshore at night
