Job Description

An opportunity to bring your proven legal expertise and commercial knowledge to a leading global business, where you will have full support in an inclusive and supportive environment.

Where you fit in

You'll be part of a legal team that's based in Scotland, focussed on our Upstream UK business, and covering a wide variety of legal work from joint ventures and project development to regulatory, M&A, gas sales / transportation and exploration.

It's a great time to join us. The team is currently 10-strong and you can expect to collaborate with colleagues across the business, including Commercial, Finance, External Relations, Treasury and Remuneration, and HR Services.

What's the role?

As Legal Counsel, you'll be providing professional and practical legal advice and support to our Upstream UK business, working on a variety of challenging legal matters within a complex and ever-changing environment.

From advising on proposed commercial strategies to drafting contracts across a broad range of legal topics, you'll guide your clients through a range of concerns, tailoring your advice and solutions to fit all kinds of areas of the business.

A capable negotiator, you'll be comfortable influencing and swiftly resolving any legal and
business concerns, proactively protecting Shell's assets and reputation. It means you'll need to show us you can confidently identify legal risks, preparing for any issues that might infringe or expose our business principles.

To succeed, you'll need to be the kind of self-starter who thrives on challenges, from prioritising a high workload to working well under pressure. Yet, at the same time, you'll relish working within a highly collaborative and inclusive team. A natural ability to nurture trustworthy relationships with a range of stakeholders will also be a key part of the role.
