Job Summary:

The Safety Coach/Trainee Safety Coach will report to the OPM and OIM to ensure all crew activities are undertaken in accordance with the standards, guidelines and procedures within the Helix WMS.

During the execution of all Project work, the Safety Coach/Trainee Safety Coach's main emphasis will be to provide Health, Safety & Environment support to the Project, therefore the Safety Coach/Trainee Safety Coach will have a functional reporting line to the OPM.


Duties and Responsibilities.

The Trainee Safety Coach will develop his/her knowledge, understanding and performance of all Duties and Responsibilities assigned to the position as directed below:

  • Provide a constant presence during activities to coach and mentor offshore teams in the use of and compliance with the Helix WMS.
  • Conduct safety inspections to ensure safe systems of work are in place throughout the execution of offshore work, with particular emphasis on:

o Safe access/egress

o Safe positioning of personnel during operational activities.

o Safe use of all equipment onboard the vessel.

o Monitor compliance with the Helix WOUK Task Based Risk Assessment system, including hazard identification and control.

o Monitor compliance with the Helix WOUK Permit to Work system.

o Monitor compliance with processes laid down in the WMS and Project procedures

o Conduct project safety inspections whilst at sea and in port during mobilisations and demobilisations.

  • Hold TOFS through the week with all on board on the WSF as directed by the OMT.
  • Develop various HSE based/related information and guidance etc for use by the OMT or to hold TOFS directly with the crew.

Preference would be given to those who can work both legally in Nigeria & UK
