JOB DESCRIPTION

Directs and monitors all activities related to purchasing activities, production planning, maintaining and analysing production and sales requirements, comparing progress to schedule, resolving scheduling conflicts, assessing data and coordinating solutions.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage and direct employees performing Planning functions.

Plan products and sub-assemblies in MRP.

Open and manage production work orders.

Manage material shortages for production build and communicate status to management.

Confer and coordinate with Buyers (Purchasing) on the status of purchase orders for parts being procured for assemblies to ensure timely release and completion of assembly production orders.

Confer with Production leads and supervisors to determine status of production orders.

Attend production meetings, to provide detailed updates on the plan and manage promise dates.

Prepare work orders with necessary prints for production supervisor.

Review open spare sales orders, verifying validity of product shortages/routings and prints.

Review customer required dates with Customer Service and set promise dates.

Manager material shortages for field spare orders and communicate status to management.

Communicate field spare order status to Operations, and advise of any rescheduling.

Set and maintain safety stock for sales order and repair (independent) demand.

Coordinate stock issues and outages.

Coordinate rework, scrap and material issues from stock - as a result of NCRs and/or ECNs - with Production, Purchasing, Warehouse, QC, and Engineering.

Monitor inventory levels on all castings, rubber products, and raw materials.

Oversee and maintain proper inventory levels for all component parts for equipment by running MRP in JD Edwards.

Work with Accounting to resolve production order cost variances.

Maintain material master fields relative to planning (lead times, soft BOMs, etc.)

Work with R&D/Engineering to manage design changes on released product, and coordinate the transition of new products to Manufacturing.

Expedite prints for manufacturing department from Engineering.

Set up and maintain master schedule based on Operations requirements (AFE) to drive MRP.

Set up and maintain forecast levels for field spare and field repair requirements.

Manage load vs. capacity to minimize overtime and maximize work center efficiency.

Assist management in setting build priorities, assessing master schedule changes, identify bottlenecks and constraints, etc.

Conduct analyses (through various system reports) to identify and implement improvement opportunities in the areas of production and inventory management.

Conduct analyses to communicate trends in resource demands, performance to schedule and special needs to Management.

Assist in development and training of lower level or new recruit production planners.

Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or equivalent training, as deemed by supervisor).  Essential concepts, and strategies related to demand management, procurement and supplier planning, material requirements planning, capacity requirements planning, sales and operations planning, master scheduling, performance measurements, supplier relationships, quality control, and continuous improvement.

Must understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies of Weatherford.

Know and understand the Weatherford Quality Policy and comply with all requirements of the Quality system Manual, Operating and Technical Procedures and Work Place Instructions.

Maintain clean and safe environment.

Work assignments carried out to the highest quality level.

Performs various other duties assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.

QUALIFICATIONS

Strong time-management and organizational skills.

General computer knowledge including the use of Microsoft Office programs.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong math skills including the use of decimals, percentages, and fractions.

Excellent knowledge of planning systems used in a manufacturing environment.

5-7 years planning/scheduling experience in an MRP manufacturing environment.

Extensive knowledge of product line and customer expectations.

Ability to effectively work with employees, supervisors, vendors, and customers.

The physical ability to immediately respond to emergency situations.

Preferred:

Prior experience with JD Edwards software or other MRP systems preferred.

Bachelor's degree or higher preferred.

Two or more years of relevant supervisory experience.
