JOB DESCRIPTION

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Able to develop new testing equipment and procedures with minimal guidance. 

Create project plan and monitor progress of project with minimum supervision.

Provide feedback on process improvements.  

Apply practical knowledge of the operations environment, sequence of tool assembly and operational use to the design aspects of a product, with minimal supervision.

Able to generate operations procedures independently for review.

Independent test planning and execution. 

Able to generate operations procedures independently for review.

Awareness of health and safety issues.

Can absorb technical information when it is presented systematically and apply it effectively.

Design and development of new products.

Customer driven design modifications and systems.

Troubleshooting/failure analysis.

Manufacturing Engineering support for new products.

Develop test procedures and perform and document testing.

Preparation of documentation for Engineering design files.

Generate Engineering layouts for fit, form, and function.

Understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies of Weatherford.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related science degree from a recognized/accredited University required.

Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related science degree from a recognized/accredited University is optional.

Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience in mechanical design of components and systems.

Proficient in computer use and Microsoft Office Suite programs.

Experience utilizing Creo Parametric, SolidWorks, or Inventor for layouts and visualizing design concepts in 3D.

Excellent communications skills.

Excellent written English (for report writing and documentation).

Willingness to travel and work in test lab, field, onshore and offshore environments.

Proficient in drafting standards (dimensioning, tolerances, GD&T, etc.).

Hands-on experience assembling and testing components and assemblies.

Ability to organize and document related work.

Demonstrated ability to operate applicable testing independently on non-standard equipment and processes. 

Preferred:

4-8 years of mechanical design and testing experience in down-hole oil field tool design.

Desired areas of expertise: conventional and thru-tubing fishing, hydraulic pulling tools, milling systems, multi-lateral completion equipment, packer design.

FEA experience with the following software packages: ANSYS, Cosmos Works, and/or Creo Simulate.

Working knowledge of hydraulics and CFD applications including Fluent.

Working knowledge of Industry standards and specifications (API, ISO, etc.).
