Job Summary

The Financial Accountant position is a member of the Finance and Accounting team within Anadarko that supports the Algerian assets. This position is based in the London office in the UK and will be responsible for all monthly Anadarko Algeria Company (AAC) operational and pension accounting/reconciliations, UK and Algerian GAAP external financial reporting for AAC, and UK corporate tax with HMRC.


  • Qualified Accountant

  • Good working knowledge of SAP, Excel,

  • Oil Industry experience preferable but not essential

  • Ability to plan, organise, prioritise and meet deadlines

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail

  • Strong interpersonal skills (communication and teamwork essential)


  • Account monthly for company operational revenue and costs, project expenditure, revenue pricing, corporate / exceptional profit taxes and company pension fund.

  • Prepare related monthly balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Provide Property, Plant and Equipment accounting / reporting cover when necessary.

  • Complete ad hoc financial analysis as requested by management.

  • Review and ensure completeness of G&A (overhead) and bank accounting journals and reconciliations.

  • Prepare and administer submission of annual UK tax returns for Anadarko UK establishments.

  • Prepare UK corporate tax payment forecasts and administer quarterly payments to HMRC.

  • Prepare and administer annual financial statements for company and subsidiaries.

  • Prepare and submit annual Algerian GAAP financial books.

  • Review and ensure completeness of related quarterly Sarbanes Oxley internal controls, and liaise with head office internal and external auditors regarding questions raised.

  • Liaise with HMRC, company auditors, local field offices, the company actuaries, joint venture partners and internal departments.

  • Document accounting procedures and make process improvements.


This position is not eligible for relocation.


Occasional travel to Houston and Algeria may be required

Work Schedule

This position is eligible for the 9/80 work schedule (a compressed hours option)
