Principal Fire Protection Professional dealing with Fire & Gas Detection and Protection Systems Engineering and Design for a grassroots Refinery Project. Position requires an up-to-date working knowledge of Fire Control Systems, Gas Detection and relevant Industry Codes and Standards. Undertake supervision and guidance of FEED studies and Detailed Design, interfacing of unit technologies and interfaces between ISBL & OSBL, while functioning as a member of Owner's Representative team in an EPC environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Performs all conventional aspects of fire protection engineering and analysis.
Reviews and Approves Plans, schedules, and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and adaption of fire protection engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
Provide technical guidance to EPC designers / drafters and less experienced fire protection engineers.
Experienced in providing the following: Firewater System P&lDs, Fire Protection Location Plans, Electrical Area Classification Plans, Fire Proofing Limit Plans and F&G Detection Location Plans.
Conceptual studies, cost and planning studies, layouts, design calculations, specification development and supervising vendor packages.
Able to effectively communicate complex technical solutions and concepts to other engineers and non-engineers.
Insures effective communications among other engineering disciplines.
Monitor EPC Fire Protection discipline performance and report to Owner design status and Issues.
Must have experience with multiple office project execution.
Ensures effective management of changes.
Experienced in estimate reviews, estimating manhours and fit for purpose deliverables.
Provide day to day support to a number of Owner's internal representatives.
Will report to Owner's Project Engineering Manager and HSE Manager.
Education and Experience
BS in Fire Protection, BSME or BSChE degree
Minimum 15 years' experience in Refinery and/or Petrochemical industries
Minimum 10 years of detail gas detection instrumentation & fire control systems engineering experience in lead roles and/or specialization.
Minimum 5 years' experience as Lead Fire Protection Engineer on mid to large scale project
SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI), InstruCalc, MS Office Suite, P.E. License
Experience with modularization of process equipment and controls (onshore or offshore)
