JOB DESCRIPTION

To provide elastomer materials engineering consulting services for engineering, manufacturing, marketing & sales and quality departments.  Conduct elastomer engineering projects for product and process development, environmental compatibility and as otherwise directed.  Prepare reports and present results and project summaries to peers, management, customers and vendors as required.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support day-to-day activities associated with new elastomer development and testing

Assist in the review and solution of manufacturing problems related to elastomer production

Prepare documentation and reports as required

Assist in maintaining the internal elastomer Databases and updating as required

Analyze engineering designs for material requirements

Coordinate multiple projects and direct test lab technicians as required

Plan, conduct, track and report elastomer investigations

Recommend and specify materials for specific design and field applications

Prepare investigative reports

Communicate on elastomer issues inside and outside Weatherford

Prepare materials and process specifications

Work and cooperate with Engineering, Office, Vendor, Customer, Laboratory, and Shop personnel

Provide internal elastomer consulting services

Know and understand Weatherford Quality Policy and comply with all requirements of the Quality Systems Manual, Operating and Technical Procedures and Workplace Instructions.

Must understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies of Weatherford.

Work assignments carried out to the highest quality level.

Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job

QUALIFICATIONS

Proficient in use of computer work processor and spreadsheet software.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing through memos and engineering reports.

Understanding of mechanical and structural components as it relates to materials engineering assessments and recommendations.

Must be able to work well with others in a team setting.

Must be able to effectively handle many concurrent projects

3 years experience in oilfield applications.

Knowledge of oilfield polymers.

BS degree in chemistry or materials engineering.  A candidate with 5 years minimum relevant professional oilfield elastomers experience at a level where technical decisions were made and technical competence was demonstrated would be considered in lieu of the BS degree.

2 - 5 years experience in oilfield elastomers

The physical ability to immediately respond to emergency situations.

Preferred:

10 years experience in oilfield polymers.

Knowledge or experience in the Oil and Gas Industry.

Knowledge of quality systems

Degree in Chemistry.
