Woodside In for Large-Scale Tree Planting Project
The first phase of the program will involve planting up to 5,000 hectares, primarily in Western Australia.

Greening Australia revealed Wednesday that it has signed a deal with Woodside to “collaboratively undertake large-scale biodiverse native tree planting projects that will generate quality carbon offsets”.

The first phase of the program will involve planting up to 5,000 hectares, primarily in Western Australia, which will sequester approximately one million tons of CO2e over 25 years, Greening Australia highlighted.

“Greening Australia has an ambitious target to restore 300,000 hectares of the Australian landscape as part of our 2030 vision and support the transition to a low carbon economy,” Greening Australia CEO Brendan Foran said in an organization statement.

“Pro-active investments from large organizations like Woodside are crucial in taking us a step closer towards this goal and our mission of creating healthy and productive landscapes where people and nature thrive,” he added.

Woodside is the pioneer of the LNG industry in Australia and the largest Australian natural gas producer, according to its website, which highlights that the company has a global portfolio.

Working sustainably is a core value embedded at every level of Woodside, according to the company’s website, which also notes that the company recognizes that strong environmental performance is essential to its success and continued growth.
