Wood Wins Mega Project Services Deal
Wood announced Tuesday that it has secured a “multi-million dollar” contract extension from ADNOC Offshore, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), for services to the UZ750 “mega project” offshore Abu Dhabi.
The scope of work includes project management consultancy services for the development, which comprises four new artificial islands and associated drilling, production, utilities and infield pipeline facilities.
Effective from January 1, 2019, the one-year extension will be delivered by Wood’s team in Abu Dhabi and secures 80 jobs. Wood has supported the project for a decade, since the initial program management consultancy services contract was awarded in 2008.
“This extension continues our commitment to the successful progression of the UZ750 project and reinforces our strong relationship with an important customer in the region,” Dave Stewart, CEO of Wood’s Asset Solutions business in Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia, said in a company statement.
“Wood has delivered significant projects to ADNOC group companies for more than four decades including PMC, FEED, studies and engineering, procurement and construction services,” he added.
“We will leverage our strong footprint in the Middle East, specifically our Abu Dhabi hub, bringing together our in-country support teams and engineering capabilities, to deliver this contract effectively, safely and on-time, supporting ADNOC’s strategic focus on achieving oil production from Upper Zakum of one million barrels of oil per day in 2024,” Stewart continued.
On Monday Wood announced that it had been awarded three new contracts totaling $53 million by ADNOC Onshore. Creating around 100 new jobs in-country, these five-year contracts have one-year extension options available.
“We are focused on supporting in-country value and closer collaboration with the UAE supply chain, using local vendors for the purchase of goods and services,” Steward said in a company statement published on the company’s website on Monday.
“We are also committed to creating opportunities to nurture new industry talent in Abu Dhabi and the UAE, which will be central to our successful execution of this contract,” he added.
Wood has over 60,000 employees and more than 400 offices around the world, according to its website, which reveals that the company’s history spans more than 160 years.
