The operator of a South Texas bulk liquids terminal reported Monday that it has begun construction of an expansion project at its facility in the Port of Brownsville.

“We are very excited to break ground on our Phase II expansion project and continue to build upon our existing operations,” Todd Reid, CEO of Bluewing Midstream LLC, said in a written statement. “Phase II will allow us to advance our strategic organic development vision while continuing to provide flexible and efficient terminal and logistics solutions to our customers.”

Bluewing’s Brownsville terminal currently boasts 800,000 barrels of liquids storage capacity capable of handling gasoline, diesel, jet fuel and other petroleum products. The expansion will add 300,000 barrels of capacity, the company stated.

Bluewing noted that it expects Phase II to begin operations late this year.
