Tallgrass Energy Kicks Off Open Season
Pony Express plans to build 25 miles of new 12-inch pipeline from the Hereford origin to the new origin point in Wyoming.

Tallgrass Energy LP has launched an open season through its affiliate Tallgrass Pony Express Pipeline LLC to invite commitments for oil transportation from a new origin near Carpenter, Wyo., to Pony Express destinations in Colorado.

Pony Express plans to build 25 miles of new 12-inch pipeline from the Hereford origin to the new origin point in Wyoming, expanding capacity from Wyoming to Sterling, Colo., on the Pony Express system.

The open season will run from Nov. 20 to Jan. 20, 2020 and the new pipeline should be in-service in Q2 2020.

Tallgrass Energy transports oil and gas from some of the nation’s most prolific basins in the Rocky Mountains, Upper Midwest and Appalachian regions with access to major demand markets in the Rockies, the Midwest, eastern Ohio and points beyond.

The company owns and operates more than 8,300 miles of natural gas pipeline, more than 800 miles of crude pipeline, and more than 300 miles of water pipeline across a broad portion of the U.S.

Just a few months ago, Blackstone Infrastructure Partners offered to buy out the remaining shares of Tallgrass Energy following a 40 percent slump since it took control of the pipeline operator earlier this year.

At press time, Tallgrass shares were trading at $17.99, up from the Nov. 20 opening price of $17.72.
