Strategic Marine to Build Another CTV for OEG Renewables
Singapore-headquartered shipbuilder Strategic Marine (S) Pte Ltd. has secured a contract to build a next-generation crew transfer vessel (CTV) for OEG Renewables, part of the OEG Energy Group. The shipbuilder said in a media release that this vessel, named Wey Feng, will be the fourth StratCat 27 it is building for OEG.
It is “a testament to OEG’s confidence in our vessels and our ongoing commitment to supporting their offshore operations across the Asia Pacific”, the company said.
“The StratCat 27 has proven very successful on a number of projects in Taiwan already and this latest addition will bolster our regional operations”, Michael James, General Manager for OEG Renewables’ marine service line, said.
The Wey Feng is a 27-meter (88.6 feet) aluminum catamaran powered by twin Caterpillar C32 engines. This vessel, designed by BMT, is capable of operating in challenging offshore conditions, with a fuel capacity of 35,000 liters (9250 gallons) and seating for 24 technicians. The vessel's design allows for safe transfers in waves up to 1.75 meters, making it well-suited for the offshore wind industry, Strategic Marine said. It is set for delivery in February 2025.
“Partnering again with OEG Renewables showcases our ongoing commitment to delivering CTVs that meet the highest standards in efficiency and safety. We are proud to see the StratCat 27 platform become an integral part of OEG’s APAC operations, reflecting our shared dedication to excellence in offshore wind”, Chan Eng Yew, CEO of Strategic Marine, said.
“Our operations in the Asia Pacific region are expanding rapidly and we’re experiencing a high demand for our vessel provision services as a result. OEG Renewables supports the development of offshore wind projects throughout Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea, utilizing our experienced personnel and highly efficient fleet of vessels to successfully deliver a range of work scopes”, Eric Briar, Managing Director at OEG Renewables, added.
