Shearwater Gets Shell Black Sea Seismic Contract
Shearwater GeoServices Holding AS revealed Monday that it has been awarded a Black Sea 3D seismic acquisition contract by Royal Dutch Shell plc.
The project will commence in the fourth quarter of this year and will be conducted by the Polar Empress, Shearwater noted. The survey covers an area of approximately 230 square miles in the western Black Sea.
“We are very pleased to receive this award by Shell which will employ the Polar Empress in continuation of other successful work offshore Turkey this season” Irene Waage Basili, the CEO of Shearwater, said in a company statement.
Last week, Shearwater announced that it had been awarded the largest-ever 4D campaign in the Asia Pacific region by Woodside.
On November 7 the company said it had been awarded a 3D seismic survey in the Eastern Mediterranean. On November 4 Shearwater revealed that it had been given a conditional letter of award for a 2D seismic acquisition and fast-track processing project by Total E&P South Africa B.V.
Shearwater describes itself as a global, customer-focused and technology-driven provider of marine geophysical services. The company has the world’s largest fleet of “high-end” seismic vessels and approximately 600 employees, according to its website.
