Aberdeen-based consortium PBS has secured an extension of its general maintenance and operations contract (GMOC) with TotalEnergies covering its North Sea assets.

PBS, comprising Ponticelli UK, Brand Energy & Infrastructure Services and Semco Maritime, extended its GMOC contract with TotalEnergies from 2023 to 2026, according to a recent news release.

The contract began in 2020. Despite a challenging start due to the COVID pandemic, PBS said it established itself as “an exemplary choice for integrated services delivery”.

“We’re delighted and proud to have the opportunity to continue to strengthen our relationship with TotalEnergies through this contract extension which adds longevity and security for our team,” PBS GMOC Director Adam Mason said. “The decision to proceed with PBS is testament to our safe and efficient delivery of the GMOC services. During 2023 we saw a step-change improvement in critical work-streams including reduction of SECE backlog, safe and timely shutdown delivery and an excellent overall safety record which involved 2 million man-hours liquidated in the year”.

“This milestone announcement is meaningful for PBS and allows us to press ahead with our five-year strategic plan across TotalEnergies’ seven sites. We are looking forward to embarking on new and exciting projects including shutdown delivery, maintenance management system optimization and supporting milestone projects with safety, efficiency and cost optimization all central principles to our service delivery,” Mason added.

“Safe and efficient operations remain at the center of the GMOC partnership between TotalEnergies and PBS. Following progress in these areas, we look forward to continuing that good trend over the next two years,” Nicolas Payer, Managing Director, TotalEnergies E&P UK, said.

TotalEnergies produces and markets oil and biofuels, natural gas and green gases, renewables and electricity. The company’s portfolio of assets are located offshore in three major zones of the North Sea: the Alwyn/Dunbar area in the Northern North Sea, the Elgin/Franklin and Culzean areas in the Central North Sea, and the Laggan-Tormore hub in the West of Shetland area.

According to the company’s website, PBS was formed in 2019 when “an opportunity was identified to consolidate its vast experience, expertise and knowledge in the energy sector”. Ponticelli operates in the oil and gas, nuclear power and industrial sectors. Brand Energy is a specialist fabric maintenance service provider, while Semco Maritime is an international contracting and engineering company
