OMV Creating 250+ Jobs in Austria
OMV has revealed that it is creating more than 250 new jobs in Austria.
The company is expanding the role of the group’s headquarters in Vienna, making it responsible for all group-wide activities in finance and HR, as well as digitization and IT. The transformation will be implemented in stages by the end of 2020, according to OMV.
"With this move we are creating more than 250 new, high-skilled jobs in Austria, where our roots lie. This will facilitate global steering from Vienna, as well as allowing us to drive forward digitization, technology development and innovation,” Rainer Seele, chairman of the executive board and CEO of OMV, said in a company statement.
Commenting on the development, Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said, “I welcome every additional job created in Austria”.
“This not only sends a positive signal to the labor market, but also benefits Austria as a business location. What's more, it bolsters us in implementing our digitization offensive," he added.
OMV, which produces and markets oil and gas, had a workforce of more than 20,000 employees in 2018. The company reported a clean CCS operating profit of $846 million (EUR 759 million) in the first quarter. This figure stood at $912 million (EUR 818 million) during the same period last year.
OMV traces its roots back to 1956 and has locations all over the world, including Australia, Russia, UAE and Libya.
