Oilfield Tanker Company Closes Business in Texas

Stevens Tanker Division, LLC, a Dallas, Texas-based oilfield fleet solutions provider, is shutting its doors soon.

The company, which provides services to energy companies in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and New Mexico, is ceasing its business operations on Oct. 15 or sooner, according to a notice sent to the Texas Workforce Commission. This will result in permanent job losses for all of its staff.

In a letter sent to employees dated Sept. 25, Stevens executive vice president Scott Mellman cites a decline in drilling and completions activity as the reason for closure.

"The general decline in the industry has taken a terrible toll on Stevens Tanker Division," the letter states. "Despite your great sacrifice and commitment, it is with deep regret that I must notify you that Stevens Tanker Divisions will cease all operations on Tuesday, October 15, 2019."

No unions are involved, according to the TWC notice. The closure will affect the following employment sites:

  • Headquarters – Dallas, TX (71 employees affected)
  • Asherton, TX (6 employees affected)
  • Bridgeport, TX (16 employees affected)
  • Bryan, TX (24 employees affected)
  • Cresson, TX (40 employees affected)
  • Dilley, TX (10 employees affected)
  • Pleasanton, TX (44 employees affected)
  • Stockdale, TX (367 employees affected)
  • Waelder, TX (8 employees affected)

Stevens Tanker Division did not respond to Rigzone's request for comment.
