Total Hits Gas Pay Offshore Brunei

TOTAL'S affiliate, TOTAL E&P Borneo and partners have discovered a significant amount of gas and condensate in Block B offshore Brunei. Drilled by the ENSCO 108 jackup, the well, ML-5, located about 5 miles (8 kilometers) to the south of the Maharaja Lela/Jamalulalam field in a new, deep-fault panel, discovered gas with condensate in High Pressure/High Temperature formations. With a total vertical depth of 18,583 feet (5,664 meters), the well is the deepest to have ever been drilled in Brunei. While performing a production test, the well flowed at a rate of 10 MMcf/d of natural gas and 220 boepd from a limited zone situated at a depth of 17,552 feet (5,350 meters). The gross thickness of the hydrocarbon-bearing formation exceeds 2,625 feet (800 meters). The development of the new resources using existing facilities is currently being studied. TOTAL operates the Maharaja Lela / Jamalulalam field, located in Block B with a 37.5% interest.
