BJ Tubular Services Wins Contract from CNR International

BJ Tubular Services has been awarded a contract by CNR International (Cote d’Ivoire) S.A.R.L., a subsidiary of Canadian Natural Resources, to provide a range of well services offshore Cote d’Ivoire, Africa.

The two-year contract provides for casing and tubing running services and onshore bucking services for all 11 wells on CNR’s Baobab Development.

BJ Tubular Services commenced operations on the multi-million dollar contract in November on behalf of CNR, with all related services being provided by BJ Tubular Services dedicated personnel and state-of-the-art equipment based at the division’s facilities in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.

The scope of work includes running 13 percent chrome tubular completions that will be run from a semi-submersible rig in water depths of up to 4000 feet.

To achieve this, BJ will employ its full Chromemaster minimal marking non-ferrous tubular handling package: Chromemaster power tongs, specially modified screen liner running tongs, flush mounted spider with Chromemaster slips, Loadmaster single joint compensator system and the Dopemaster pipe compound applicator.

Onshore, BJ will carry out non-marking bucking services using the company’s transportable Series 2000 Bucking Unit with Chromemaster Jaws at its base in Abidjan.

By doing so, BJ will provide high quality onshore completion assembly services. The Series 2000 represents a step-change in the quality of the make-up of CRA downhole assemblies, as it saves time and money. To accommodate the additional equipment and personnel required to service the CNR contract, BJ Tubular Services has taken on further warehousing, yard and office facilities.

“Although this will be the first time BJ Tubular Services will have worked on behalf of CNR in Cote d’Ivoire, we have delivered casing and tubing running services on their behalf,” said Neil Gordon, general manager of BJ Tubular Services.

“We share a solid working relationship with CNR which was cultivated while providing these services for all of CNR’s UK operations in the North Sea. Coupled with the fact that BJ Well Services is firmly established in Abidjan and has successfully provided cementing and coiled tubing services for CNR, we are confident that we will continue to deliver our specialist services in an efficient, cost-effective manner,” he added.

BJ Tubular Services specializes in personnel and equipment for running casing and tubing, particularly premium connections, high chrome content tubulars, dual, triple and sub-sea completions, as well as hydraulic hammer conductor and caisson driving services.
