Hoang Long Joint Operating Hits Hydrocarbons Offshore Vietnam

The operator of Block 16-1 in the Cuu Long Basin offshore Vietnam, Hoang Long Joint Operating, has encountered hydrocarbons in appraisal well, TGD-2X, in a clastics sequence at about 14,560 feet (4,450 meters) measured depth. The well, drilled to appraise the "E" prospect discovery, reached a total depth of 15,318 feet (4,669 meters) after penetrating the target hydrocarbon zone in the Oligocene "E" formation. The PV Drilling I jackup was used to drill the discovery. The well logging is continuing but drilling has shown and early log interpretation indicate two main reservoir sand intervals were encountered. Approximately 131 feet (40 meters) will be tested after a 7-inch liner is set and cemented, and testing should take about three weeks.
