Maersk Determines Development on Angolan Wells
Maersk Oil completed appraisal drilling on the Chissonga-2 well, which was drilled down dip of the discovery well on Block 16 in 4,409 feet (1,344 meters) of water. The well was drilled to a total depth of 19,856 feet (6,052 meters). A production test was conducted in Oligocene age turbidities, flowing 6,650 barrels of 36 degrees API oil per day on a 36/64-inch choke. The gathered data will be evaluated and analyzed to determine if a development is commercially feasible. Further appraisal drilling will most likely occur before commerciality can be determined. Maersk Oil operates the block, holding a 50% interest; Sonangol P&P holds 20%; Odebrecht Oil & Gas holds 15%; and Devon Energy holds the remaining 15% interest.SubseaIQ provides focused, in-depth coverage of offshore field development activities around the world, with daily updates on hundreds of offshore fields and facilities.
