DPS Bags ONGC FPSO Consultancy Contract
DPS (Bristol), has been awarded a significant and high profile contract to act as FPSO consultants to ONGC of India for their proposed D-1 marginal field FPSO.
The D-1 field is located 200kms west of Mumbai and currently under production through a MOPU (converted jack-up rig) based Early Production System. As part of the field expansion, ONGC are looking to initially lease one FPSO but have eyes on a number of others for similar marginal fields in the area.
The existing MOPU (Sagar Lakshmi) is to be dry-docked for maintenance repairs and shall be removed after mobilization of an FPSO which will be chosen by ONGC based on DPS’s recommendation.
The development scheme prepared by ONGC envisages installation of three new well platforms, drilling of additional wells and laying of interconnecting pipelines and subsea manifolds.
As PMC consultant, DPS will initially be working with ONGC to select an appropriate FPSO configuration and prepare a suitable Technical Bid Package. The scope will subsequently extend to acting as the interface between ONGC, the FPSO contractor, classification society, regulatory authorities and other agencies to ensure compatibility between all facilities and systems for the execution phase including review of engineering, procurement and construction activities.
David Parkinson, DPS Chairman, said, "Having performed a role as produced water domain experts for ONGC a few years ago, we are delighted to have the opportunity to work in India with ONGC again.
"The FPSO market has massive potential and every forecast one reads shows significant growth opportunities. India will play a role in this market expansion over the coming years and for DPS to be an integral part of this is a tremendous achievement and something of which we are extremely proud."
Neil Young, DPS Group Managing Director, added, "We have built an impressive FPSO reference list over the last few years and as a result have a deep understanding of the technical and commercial challenges that face FPSO owners and operators. A combination of this experience and our topsides expertise will help us define, communicate and select an appropriate solution that will benefit both ONGC and the ultimate contractor."
