Senergy Appoints First COO

Senergy has appointed its first chief operating officer (COO) as the company positions itself for further growth. Well-known industry figure Mike Bowyer has taken up the COO position and will be responsible for leading the day to day operations of the business.

James McCallum, Senergy's chief executive officer, said, "Appointing a COO represents a significant milestone for Senergy, and reflects how much we have evolved in just five years. I'm delighted that someone of Mike's caliber has joined the team as we move into an exciting new chapter of expansion on a global scale.

"For the next five years, we have set ourselves the ambitious target of increasing our turnover from £78 million to £300 million, and in order to achieve this it is essential that we have the right foundations in place. Mike's appointment brings a wealth of experience and a different perspective to the company, and will give others, including myself, scope to continue to focus on the company's overall growth strategy."

McCallum continued, "As COO, Mike will specifically focus on working with the team to introduce a more efficient operating structure which delivers clearer accountability and faster decision making on issues affecting the routine operation of the business. He has worked with companies with similar growth aspirations as Senergy and has also been involved in the successful acquisition and integration of a number of companies, which will be invaluable as we continue to look for opportunities for growth through acquisition."

Mike, who will be based in Senergy's Aberdeen headquarters, is a well-respected figure in the energy industry with more than 35 years' experience, primarily in global organizations. He was formerly Country Vice President for Halliburton.

A mechanical engineering graduate of Aberdeen University, Mike's other career highlights include the role of managing director of PES International. Prior to this, he was General Manager, Well Services at Baker Hughes where he was responsible for the company’s first Integrated Well Services project in the UK.

He said of his new COO role, "Joining Senergy at such an exciting stage of its journey is a particular privilege. Senergy is a vibrant and forward thinking company with a great vision and passion, not just for its people, its clients and its business but for the evolution of the energy industry. More importantly, Senergy has the right people, the right skills and the drive to succeed, all essential components in achieving our global aspirations."
