AWE Spins Bit Offshore Taranaki Basin

The Kan Tan IV semisub commenced drilling the Tui SW-1 well in PMP 38158 in the offshore Taranaki Basin. The well was at a measured depth of 4,938 feet (1,505 meters), where 13-3/8-inch casing was being run and cemented as planned. Tui SW-1 is evaluating the Kapuni F10 Sand, which is the oil-bearing reservoir in the Tui oilfield, and has a planned total depth of roughly 12,795 feet (3,900 meters). Once drilling is completed, the well will be cased and suspended as a possible future gas injection well. In the event of a discovery, the well will be tied-back to existing Tui facilities. AWE serves as the operator of the license.
