Virginia Gov. Still Supports Offshore Drilling

Speaking at the Offshore Technology Conference in Houston Monday, Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell reiterated his support for opening his state to offshore drilling.

McDonnell noted that the Deepwater Horizon disaster and the subsequent oil spill highlight the inherent risk involved in the oil and gas industry, according to a special edition of Platts Oilgram News. However, McDonnell also said that Virginia still wants to become the "energy capital of the East Coast" by welcoming development by the oil and gas, wind, and nuclear industries.
