AWE Primes Bit Offshore Taranaki Basin
The Kan Tan IV drilling rig is on location and preparing to spud the Tui SW-1 exploration well in PMP 38158 in the Taranaki Basin. The well is testing the Kapuni F10 Sand, which has proven productive at the nearby Tui oil field. Located 328 feet (3 kilometers) south west of the Tui-1 oil discovery, the well will be drilled to a target depth of 12,795 feet (3,900 meters). If a discovery is made, the well will be cased and suspended as a possible future gas injection well. Once drilling is completed, a second well, Kahu-1, is scheduled to start immediately.AWE serves as the operator of the license.SubseaIQ provides focused, in-depth coverage of offshore field development activities around the world, with daily updates on hundreds of offshore fields and facilities.
