Kizomba TLP Arrives in Angola

ExxonMobil's tension leg platform for the Kizomba A field offshore Angola arrived in Luanda over the weekend. "Soon the off-loading procedure will be complete and the platform will be towed to Block 15, where it will provide platform drilling for Kizomba A, expected to begin later this year," Dean Guttormson, Director General for Esso Exploration Angola (Block 15) Limited said.

The Kizomba A field has reserves of approximately one billion boe. The first oil is expected in 2004 and the field has a target production of 250,000 barrels per day. The platform has accommodations for 100 workers and is the first commercial application of a TLP designed for the West African market, Esso said. Oil production will be tied back to an FPSOfacility currently under construction in Korea.

Esso is the operator of Block 15 with a 40% stake. Partners include BP with a 27% interest; ENI with 20% and Statoi with the remaining 13%. Angola's state-owned oil company Sonangol is the concessionaire.
