Aker Solutions Wins Two Industry Awards in UK

The UK operation of international engineering and construction services group Aker Solutions has received awards from two heavyweight oil and gas industry bodies in recognition of its commitment to raising the bar on operating performance and improving staff development.

The Aberdeen-headquartered company has been awarded a Gold Award from Oil & Gas UK for meeting the criteria of the new tiered compliance system for the supply chain code of practice.

This system was introduced to achieve fuller compliance throughout the oil and gas industry and is awarded to companies who adhere to the industry's best practice guidelines to improve overall performance and efficiency within the supply chain.

Norman McLennan, Oil & Gas UK's supply chain & commercial manager said, "The attainment of Gold level compliance with the industry PILOT Supply Chain Code of Practice is a testament to the time and effort expended by Aker Solutions' business teams to ensure that the code's principles are embedded throughout the company's operating processes and procedures. Aker Solutions has consistently supported the code over many years consequently this award is well deserved."

Meanwhile, international professional engineering body the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) has accredited Aker Solutions graduate development program.

The award recognizes the commitment, processes and procedures the company has put in place to help young engineers achieve chartered status in their profession as effectively and quickly as possible.

IChemE qualifications director Neil Atkinson said, "Aker Solutions has an excellent scheme and one that will benefit the chemical and process engineers employed by the company. The training format will help graduate trainees become Chartered Chemical Engineers, benefiting the company, its staff and the wider profession."

Rod Buchan, managing director of Aker Solutions (Offshore Partner Ltd) said, "To achieve these accreditations from two of our industry's leading organisations is a significant vote of confidence in the work we are doing to improve our service to customers across the supply chain and, closer to home, invest in the future by nurturing the talent of our graduate engineers."
