Veritas to Use Thales SkyFix-XP GPS

Thales GeoSolutions and Veritas Geophysical Corporation have agreed a two-year contract for the exclusive worldwide provision of Thales SkyFix-XP satellite differential global positioning system (SDGPS) and the Thales SkyFix DGPS. This is the first long-term contract of its kind to be signed for the new generation of Thales SkyFix-XP positioning and navigation services.

Worth up to US$ 2.7 million, and extending well into 2005, the contract will see Thales providing positioning and navigation services to Veritas Geophysical Corporation's global fleet of seismic survey vessels - operated from Houston, Texas, Crawley, UK and Singapore - offering the oil and gas industry worldwide the most advanced geophysical and positioning capabilities.

Effective immediately, this contract extends the contiguous period during which Thales GeoSolutions will be the exclusive positioning provider for Veritas to some five years.

Announcing the signing of the contract, Senior-Vice President of the Thales Positioning Based Solutions Group, Stanislas Guerin said: "This new agreement follows the successful culmination of a three-year contract and a close collaboration between Veritas and Thales GeoSolutions.

Veritas is now able to offer the oil and gas industry worldwide the latest in seismic survey capability together with truly global positioning services, supported by the Thales SkyFix-XP SDGPS and Thales SkyFix DGPS networks.

Certainly the most accurate and dependable system available today, Thales SkyFix-XP is ideal for all offshore operations speeding up the time taken for positioning activities. The SDGPS services draw on a completely new technique providing highly reliable and dynamic decimetric positioning accuracy anywhere in the world, regardless of proximity to reference stations.
