Parker Drilling Hires New V.P. of Operations

Parker Drilling has appointed John R. Gass as vice president of operations. Gass replaces Thomas L. Wingerter, whose resignation was announced September 12.
Prior to his most recent appointment, Mr. Gass served the company as vice president of corporate business development since April 2000. Since joining the company in 1977, he has served in various management positions in Parker's international divisions of Brazil, Somalia, Singapore, Kenya, and South Africa. In 1985, he became the division manager for Africa and the Middle East. In 1987, he directed the Company's mining operations in South Africa. In 1989, he was promoted to international contracts manager and in 1996 was promoted to vice president and general manager of the frontier area operations with responsibility for operations in the former Soviet Union, China, Africa, the Middle East, and developing areas.
Gass earned a bachelor's in business administration from the University of Oklahoma and a master's in international management from the American Graduate School of International Management in Glendale, Arizona.
