New Danish Natural Gas Pipeline to the Netherlands

A.P. Moller - Maersk, Shell, ChevronTexaco and DONG have agreed to establish a new natural gas pipeline between the Tyra facilities in the Danish North Sea and the NOGAT pipeline system in the Dutch North Sea. In Den Helder, the new pipeline will connect the Tyra facilities with the Dutch gas grid via the NOGAT system.

The pipeline will give the companies access to new markets and enable them to export natural gas from the Danish fields.

The new 26" pipeline will have a length of about 100 km and will pass through Danish, German and Dutch waters. The pipeline is planned to be fully operational in the fall of 2004. Total investments in the pipeline with associated facilities will be about DKK 1 billion. Maersk Oil & Gas AS will act as operator and be responsible for construction and operation of the pipeline.

The ownership of the pipeline will be as follows:
  • A.P. Moller – Maersk 19.5%
  • Shell Olie- og Gasudvinding 23.0%
  • Texaco Denmark Inc 7.5%
  • DONG Naturgas 50.0%

  • Each of the owners will hold capacity rights in accordance with its ownership interest and be free to market its capacity accordingly.
