Sofregaz-led Consortium Wins Guangdong LNG Terminal Contract

The partners of the Guangdong LNG Terminal and Trunkline Project confirmed that the consortium formed by Sofregaz and its parent company Tecnimont (the Edison engineering company), Saipem (an Eni company) and its subsidiary Technigaz, has been selected as the winning bidder for the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract to build the LNG Import Terminal and Marine Facilities located at ChenTouJiao, near Shenzhen, in Guangdong Province, Southern China.
The Guangdong partners are now finalizing the Terminal EPC contract with the consortium, however award of the contract remains subject to formal Government approval of the project.
The total contract value is about US$ 250 million, of which Tecnimont and Sofregaz contract amounts approx. to US $100 million.
In particular, the scope of the work of the consortium is to design and construct a grass-roots 3.70 mtpa LNG receiving terminal, including regasification plant, two LNG storage tanks, marine facilities and all supporting infrastructures.
The project, when completed by the middle of 2006, will be the first LNG terminal implemented in the Peoples Republic of China.
