StatoilHydro Taps BJ Services for Coiled Tubing Services on NCS
BJ Services AS, a Norwegian subsidiary of BJ Services Company, has been awarded a multiyear coiled tubing services contract by StatoilHydro ASA, covering all of its operations on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. The contract includes four years of operations with two two-year options to renew. It is among the largest coiled tubing services contracts ever awarded in Norway.
"BJ Services has provided coiled tubing services in the Norwegian market for several years. This contract represents a fitting opportunity to expand and grow our technology even further," said Arild Helleren, Norway Country Manager, BJ Services. "Our employees have worked hard to offer the best possible services at competitive prices for the advancement of Norway’s petroleum industry and have the highest regard for StatoilHydro, which continuously challenges suppliers to provide the best energy solutions with the lowest environmental impact."
New Equipment, Crews Expected to Support Projects
As a result of the contract award, BJ Services will develop a sizable portfolio of new equipment and consider requirements for additional employees in Norway. Services are expected to begin October 1, 2010. The contract is also expected to provide opportunities to further develop and introduce proprietary coiled tubing technologies currently patented and in use by BJ in other areas of the world.
