Flexible Pipe Specialist Wins Wood Group Accolade

Leading flexible pipe specialist, flexlife, continued its award winning success after claiming the Wood Group Award for Innovation at the Grampian Awards for Business Enterprise.

The award was presented to the Aberdeen-based company who has developed scanning technology to detect leaks and corrosion in flexible pipes.

The 8th annual awards, which celebrate venture and creativity of companies in the North-east, took place in the Ardoe House Hotel last Thursday (22nd). Entrants from across the area battled it out in new categories recognising entrepreneurs, employers and entrepreneurial supporters.

Dr. Frank Dick OBE, President of the European Athletics Coaches Association, hosted the evening, which saw flexlife and competing businesses from the oil and gas, consumer and energy sectors triumph with the top prizes.

Carl-Petter Halvorsen, flexlife director said, "We are thrilled to be given this award, as it identifies where our creativity originated from, Aberdeen. There were many great businesses in the finals, and it is refreshing to see the amount of good work being carried out in the north."

flexlife has already enjoyed award success in Aberdeen this year, with three awards at the prestigious Northern Star Business Awards 2009; Winner of the Research and Development award, Overall Scottish trophy for Most Promising New Business and Scotland's Award for Innovation Through Technology.
