ATR Group Strengthens Board with 2 New Directors

Plant, lifting and tool rental specialist ATR Group has appointed two new directors to its board as it continues to build for sustained growth in the international oil and gas marketplace.

Highly experienced operations and commercial manager Mike Robertson arrives as operations director as he continues a career of more than 30 years in the oil and gas industry.

ATR Tool Rental general manager Tom Barr, who has more than 20 years experience as a director with commercial and financial responsibilities in the sector, has been promoted to commercial director.

Managing director of the group, Keith Moorhouse, said the appointments further strengthen ATR's senior team following the arrival of highly-experienced northeast businessman Mike Salter as non-executive director.

"Mike Robertson has a wealth of experience in the oil and gas sector, his knowledge of the UKCS and some of our biggest customers will be a great asset to us when allied to his skills in senior management," said Moorhouse.

"He has expertise across all of the operational and commercial functions vital to our work including contract formulation, negotiation and commercial management, as well as managing operations including plant hire and logistics on and offshore.

"Tom Barr is a key part of our team and his promotion to commercial director reflects the positive work he has done in our tool rental division -- his influence will be very positive across the wider group of companies.

“We are continuing to build on what have been a very successful two years and, added to the experience Mike Salter has brought in his role as non-executive director, these new appointments will help drive us further forward."

Both appointments come as ATR confirms the departure from the board of former chief executive Robert Skidmore.

A former pupil of Robert Gordon's College and graduate of the Robert Gordon University in purchasing and supply chain management, Mike Robertson is a member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (MCIPS).

A quantity surveyor to trade, Robertson first worked in the engineering and property construction sector, before moving into oil and gas as part of the Brent Delta project, based in Great Yarmouth.

He has built up considerable experience in sales contract management, procurement and supply chain management with major firms including BP, RBG and Rigblast working throughout the UKCS North Sea and in Houston, USA.

"I am delighted to be joining what is a highly successful multi-discipline organization. The ATR Group is building for growth, with huge potential throughout the Caspian region on top of continued expansion in its home marketplace, the UKCS," said Robertson.

A keen golfer in summer and squash player in winter, Aberdeen resident Robertson enjoys travelling internationally for work and leisure.

Tom Barr said, "I'm delighted to take the step up to the board here at ATR, and having the opportunity to play a major role in helping the group to grow its success story even more.

"I spent more than 20 years as a director earlier in my career, and am really enthusiastic about the additional responsibility which comes with leading our commercial activities going forward."

ATR Group is the market leader in the rental of specialized tools and equipment for the offshore oil and gas industry maintenance market, operating throughout the North Sea and UKCS, and the Caspian region.
