Aker Solutions Taps Proserv for Subsea Christmas Tree Technology

Proserv has recently been awarded a three year agreement with Aker Solutions worth approximately 18 million NOK. With projects ongoing throughout the world, Aker Solutions has contracted Proserv to provide high pressure and high temperature components for their subsea christmas trees at the Dalia, Visund, Morwin and new rapid threes.

Aker Solutions has decades of experience in subsea tree technology, specializing in dual bore, horizontal and monobore tree systems. In fact since the 1950s they have provided over 650 trees for the offshore industry. Each of these tree systems are designed for pressures up to 16,500 psi and temperatures ranging from -40F to 350F, as well as being qualified to depths of 10,000ft.

Aker Solutions' RapidSolution was launched in September 2007 as a preconfigured system, with a dedicated stocking program, that aims to provide a complete well set within a fraction of the traditional system lead times. The systems are going to be built at Tranby (Norway) and in Pulau Indah (Malaysia). The RapidSolution is a complete well system that consists of a subsea tree, subsea control module, wellhead and a tie-in system. Proserv's components are going to be used in the subsea tree systems, as a device used to control flow from subsea oil and gas wells.

This agreement confirms not only Proserv's performance and close collaboration with Aker Solutions on similar projects since 1997, but also Proserv's established position as a strong exclusive supplier of Autoclave Engineer's high quality fittings and tubing. A main reason Proserv was selected as the contractor is the fact that our components have been "100% leakage free" during the ten years co-operation period. Our components are often preferred by clients that place extremely high demands on accuracy and materials.

"To meet the client's requirements we need high levels of expertise and the very best products -- we have both," emphasised Trond Riska Pedersen, Test & Controls Systems division in Proserv Norway AS.
