Training Expert Joins C-MAR as New Chief Operating Officer

Aberdeen head-quartered C-MAR Group has appointed a new chief operating officer to lead its training division.

Peter Aylott has been appointed to spearhead the delivery of an increased training portfolio by the Group, reinforcing an already significant service offering in dynamic positioning (DP) training and fluid power hydraulics skills and maintenance tuition.

A navigation specialist, Peter's career spans more than fifteen years service in the Royal Navy. He has navigated the navy's biggest warship, HMS Ocean, and seen active service on the vessel during the invasion of Iraq.

His latter role with the Royal Navy was in charge of the navigation school at HMS Collingwood. Responsible for all shore based navigation and deck officer training, Peter has extensive experience in standards of training certification and watchkeeping (STCW) training and examinations for a broad spectrum of trainees from cadets to commanding officers.

He went on to join the Nautical Institute in 2007 as director of professional development, he delivered a key set of maritime education and training programs including the Institute’s continuous development program, DP accreditation services and LNG and oil spill response curriculum.

Andrew Macdonald, group operations director, said, "Peter's remit will be to continue the growth and development of the world leading DP center training programs, continuing to advance the Group's fluid power hydraulics training and to develop new services and courses aimed at meeting very specific and complex requirements of the increasingly regulated maritime and offshore industries. The training division will play a key role in underpinning our strategy of delivering best in class services across the globe."

Commenting on his new role at C-MAR, Aylott said, "C-MAR's extensive training repertoire has extended even further in the last few years and so this is an excellent opportunity for me to bring my widespread education and learning experience to bear within the oil & gas and marine industries."

With more than twenty years experience in the offshore and marine sectors, C-MAR has been at the forefront of identifying crucial skills gaps that require ongoing development and training programs in order for organizations to avoid costly downtime and disruption.

Peter went on to say, "The Group has recognized key training areas that can improve operational performance and enhance productivity across the board within an organization. It will be my role to develop that further in order to offer our clients an increased service which represents value as well as operational expertise. Our aim is to offer world class training and tuition in the areas where it is really needed.

"Effectively we intend to create a global learning, training and skills supply chain that can be delivered to customers around the world in order to meet specific industry needs."

C-MAR Group provides a comprehensive service to the marine and energy sectors which includes marine operations, management and consultancy, recruitment services, subsea and electrical engineering, specialist training and marine consultancy.
