DONG Drills Duster Offshore Denmark

DONG has completed drilling the Hanne-1 (5504/6-5) exploration well in License 11/98 in the North Sea. The was drilled using ENSCO's jackup, ENSCO 101. Hanne-1 was drilled as a vertical well and reached total depth at 2965 meters below mean sea level in layers of Upper Cretaceous age. No hydrocarbons were encountered. Hanne-1 is now being plugged and abandoned. The ENSCO 101 will subsequently be moved approximately 35 kilometers northwest to License 8/89, where DONG will conduct the Ophelia-1 exploration well.

Partners in License 11/98 are Amerada Hess with 42%; DONG with 25%; Petro-Canada with 20% and Denerco Oil with the remaining 13%.
